September 1, 1971 Line-Up T-Shirt

$ 25.95

On September 1, 1971, the Pittsburgh Pirates became the first team in Major League Baseball history to field an all-minority line-up.

While the significance of the moment went largely overlooked at game time (commentators didn't notice history being made until the third inning), the historic occasion came nearly 24 years after Jackie Robinson first broke baseball’s color barrier.

This t-shirt design commemorates the pivotal moment in baseball history. The 1971 Pittsburgh Pirates would go on to clinch the 1971 World Series title – which proved to be just one of the team’s remarkable events that season.

Design by our friend and local graphic designer Nick Caruso.
